The Tick Project Shoot at Ten Mile
The Tick Project Shoot at Ten Mile
June 1, 2019
Dear Tamarack members,
Most of us know someone affected by Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. These diseases can be debilitating and in rare cases, even fatal. Lyme disease is a growing health crisis across the United States and Dutchess County is home to some of the nation’s highest incidence rates. Consequently, blacklegged ticks threaten all outdoor activities at Tamarack.
We look forward to the day when science can provide the answers we need to prevent tick-borne disease and protect our health. Cary Institute’s The Tick Project is working to test an environmentally safe approach to reducing tick populations in areas where risk is highest for people and pets. Clove Valley Rod & Gun, Mashomack Preserve, Orvis Sandanona , Pawling Mountain Club, Tamarack Preserve, and Ten Mile River Preserve have teamed up to host a charity sporting clays event to support The Tick Project.
Blast Away Lyme: A shooting clays tournament to support Cary Institute’s The Tick Project will be held on Saturday June 1, 2019 at Ten Mile River Preserve beginning at 9:00 am. Squads of four shooters each will rotate through the course and afterwards enjoy a lunch and a falconry demonstration. Awards for distinguished shooting will be presented.
Please join me in blasting away Lyme disease. A portion of your registration fee is tax deductible and 100% of your fees and additional donations will go to support The Tick Project. Guests are welcome.
